Original watercolor painting of a brightly colored betta fish. Titled simply “Betta fish”.
This is an unframed original watercolor painting on 140 lb cold press Canson watercolor paper.
The male betta fish, also known as the Siamese fighting fish is a popular pet because of its bright color, however it is known for its aggressiveness, especially towards other males of the same species. For this reason, it is often housed alone in a small tank, though it can be put in a community tank that has no other bettas. Even then, it is usually best if the other fish in the community tank are larger than the betta fish.
The bettafish, with its “loner” lifestyle, is a symbol of independence and love of freedom.
The paper is 12 inches wide and 9 inches tall, the painted area of the paper is roughly 10 x 7 inches, there is a white boarder all around, which is a benefit if you wish to frame the artwork without a mat.
