Delicate pink cherry blossoms on a branch are attracting a rarely seen specimen of butterfly, the blushing phantom. They both are featured on a green speckled abstract background.
The blushing phantom butterfly is one type of glass-wing butterfly. Depending on lighting and angle it is viewed from, the larger part of the wing may appear blue, purple, silver, or may even seem to vanish altogether. I have done my best to reproduce this effect in paint, using iridescent, pearlescent, and interference paints on the butterflies wings. The last three photos are closeups of the butterfly, taken in different lighting and from different angles, so you can see how the wings change appearance. This effect will only be present on the original painting, as it is impossible to reproduce for prints.
This painting would make a lovely gift for mom, or for any one who appreciates the beauty of nature and art.
The watermark, copyright notice, and web address do not appear on the finished painting, but purchase does not transfer reproduction rights.
The canvas is 16 inches (40.64 centimeters) tall and 20 inches (50.8 centimeters) wide, and a little over 1/2 inch thick. The green speckled background goes around the edges so it can be hung with or without a frame.
